One of my goals this year is to read a classic a month, or at least to try to.
For January I read The Hobbit, or There and Back Again by J.R.R. Tolkien, which I gave 4 stars.
I then preceded to watch the extended versions of all three movies, yes that means I spent 9 hours watching the book I just finished reading.
It was wonderful, I watched The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies in one sitting so for 6 hours I worked on increasing my couch dent. I balled like a baby, so much so that it made my dog uncomfortable and she got up and left the room. #KiliForever
I was tempted for February to continue and pick up The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien but it appears I’ve hit a bit of a reading slump, so maybe I should wait a little while before continuing with Tolkien.
Soooo… then what do I pick up next?
Well I decided I would take a look at all the classics I own that I haven’t read (80 out of 90 are unread by the way) and determine “The Top Twelve”. I did this by taking the Goodreads rating for each book and multiply it by the number of rating the book received to get a larger number and then sorted them in descending order.
So here they are in order of highest rating/review count:

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald (No I didn’t read it in HS like I should have… sorry Ms.Broussard)
